Aaron Carter Memorial at Heart Weho in Downtown Los Angeles
One of my favorite types of photography, alongside portraiture and fashion, is event and concert photography — especially when the event has this much emotion, energy and meaning behind it.
I was beyond honored when invited to be a part of “Songs for Tomorrow” a memorial for Aaron Carter, hosted by on our sleeves in efforts to spread awareness about the importance of mental health. As a Los Angeles event photographer, this was the kind of evening that reminded me how powerful photography can be — not just to document who was there, but to preserve the feeling, purpose and atmosphere of the event.
Having grown up as a 90’s kid, you can imagine how this felt like a dream come true, surrounded and being given the opportunity to be able to photograph some of the worlds most notable popstars, Nick Carter .Lance Bass, AJ Mclean, David Archuleta , Otown, LFO was incredible. Voices I literally grow up to now in unison collectively as we all came together to honor the life of Aaron Carter who died very unexpectedly.
Angel, Aarons twin did a beautiful job at bringing this event together to bring awareness to “On our sleeves” an organization for children. mental health, and it is now her life’s goal to spread awareness for generations to come.
For charity events, memorials and awareness-led gatherings, the photographs can carry the message beyond the room. They become a way to share the purpose of the event, honour the people involved and give the organisation meaningful images for future awareness, press, social media and community outreach.
I look forward to being a part of On our Sleeves and to be a part of such amazing continued events.
