Sunset Proposal in Huntington Beach California

When Brad connected with me letting me know all about his plans to propose , I knew Sarah had to be a special girl. His plans were to have a beautiful picnic setup on the beach ( as this was their first style of date) and then surprise her with a beautiful proposal session after. as a Southern California Wedding Photographer, I have photographed many proposals, meeting up is crucial to make sure everything goes as planned! We met up and picked the perfect spot, talked all about his plans to get her there, and figured out the best places for them to stand on the big day.

2023 has been a particularly rainy season here in California, but I’ve been loving the beautiful muted blue and diffused lighting I’ve been getting on a lot of my shoots, there is something magical about the cloudy skies. Beachly events did such a great job with the picnic!

Just before he was set to arrive I found a comfortable spot in my beach chair and waited for my couple to arrive.

I typically like to arrive 30 mins early just to make sure I give myself enough time to find parking, get myself in place for when my couple arrives.

Sarah had no clue the picnic was for her, she was beyond surprised when she realized it was all for her!

She was so surprised that she too fell to her knees. I absolutely love this shot, I don’t think at this point she even realized I was there, it was so perfect and she literally cried with excitement. Afterwards I reveled myself and we played around with the picnic/taking some photos enjoying ourselves and running around the beach, Brad and Sarah’s fun personalities and love shined through in every moment!

The really cool thing about the rain is it has brought TONS and TONS of flowers to Southern California, and extended not just flower season but also the beautiful green grass. My clients this year are getting treated with extra special treatment by all the beautiful blooms. After we spent some time at the beach, I decided to take them to a beautiful spot just across the street from my home where we were literally surrounded by thousands of flowers.

It was such an honor to photograph this beautiful couple and I’m so excited to see where their future takes them! Congrats Brad and Sarah!
