What a Difference a Day Makes

A year ago today, an incredible gathering took place. Family and friends from near and far gathered together, unpolluted laughter filled the air, and we all could stand within feet of each other without giving it a second thought.

Never in a million years would we see what was go come, if you would have asked me, never would I have thought that a year from that day, I would have spent the last 63 days in mandatory shelter-in-place in efforts to avoid contracting, and spreading an entirely new virus, that would bring the world to its knees.

If I’ve learned anything from this quarantine, it’s how vital the need for human connection and touch is, and how when we don’t get it, it really can mess with our psyche. As stated by a very wise C.S. Lewis, “We are born helpless. As soon as we are fully conscious we discover loneliness. We need others physically, emotionally, intellectually; we need them if we are to know anything, even ourselves.“

Life is surely different, it has taught me to never take any moment for granted. It truly has been incredible to see the world come together, even though separate, and in such creative ways, but I do long for the day when we can greet each other with ease once again.

Here are some of my favorite moments from my sister-in-laws wedding last year. I did not photograph the actual event, but made sure to capture some of the memorable times throughout the weekend. From watching her give gifts to my in-laws, my husband getting a ton of laughs and love from his speech, to seeing one of my best childhood friends put a massive smile on my moms face as he danced with her, May 18, 2019, is truly a day I will hold dear for life.

Happy Anniversary Jeanie and Costel.
