Extended family photo session in beautiful Corona del Mar, California.

Who doesn’t love a beach family photoshoot in Corona del Mar? When Cindy decided to hire me for her extended beach family photo shoot in Corona del Mar, I was so excited! One of her closest friends from when she worked at disneyland as a dancer, who was also her dance partner at Disney was in town with his family, and they wanted to take the opportunity to do a reunion photoshoot together, so !

As a family photographer, the first thing we discussed was picking the best location for their session, she told me she wanted a beach, but not a traditional open beach, like you would find in Huntington Beach, but moreso one that brought in the beautiful iconic cliffs of the Orange County coast, with picturesque rocks in the background.

We first started the session with photographing on the North Side of the beach, before the sun dipped down so that we could get the beautiful airy light peaking in from behind, while maintaining the integrity of the beautiful natural light on the skin.

We then moved on to individual groupings of each couple.

One thing I always aim to do with any family photoshoot, especially large family photoshoots, is to make sure I grab variations of family members, couples, solo’s if desired and any other grouping that might be important for the client.

For the final part of the shoot, we waited for the sun to just go down, leaving the sky a beautiful pastel shade of blue and pink. This is when I had the family directly facing the sun and used the beautiful coastline as a backdrop for them to be against as the sun lighted up their skin so perfectly. We finished out the shoot with a few more requested shots, and then called it a night on the most beautiful family sunset session ever!
